Shopping, London

I thought I would show you everything I bought, which is little and not very exciting but it will all give my wardrobe a more winter vibe, I believe. So, I'm gonna do a running commentary on it all, read on. Just wondering, have any of you bought any clothes recently?
Also at Barnardos today we were talking about how the shop was going to be decorated and when is the right time to put the decorations up (18th Nov). And it got me thinking how insanely excited I am about Christmas, I already have some ideas of gifts to get my friends. XX

1. Floral woolly tights from river island, I had a £10 voucher so decided to buy these they are so lovely.
2. Random woolly tights from Urban Outfitters, I just adore the cute pattern on them, it reminds me of the fair isle patterns around, which I adore.
3. A hat from topshop, there were so many to choose from but I decided on this one, I bought a poppy and added it to the feathers.

4. A navy woolly jumper from American Apparel, to begin I tryed on a maroon one but after deciding it was too much like my school jumper I decided on this lovely, warm, navy one.

5. Grey tapered trousers from Topshop, not really much to say but they look better when they are on. I'm thinking about wearing them on Monday with a shirt, this is because it is PHSCE day and we have interviews, so I may take a picture of it then.

Day 1, London

I don't find Halloween that exciting, so I'm just going to ignore it and save all my energy for Christmas. Anyway here are a few pictures of my first day in London, I spent my train journey knitting, got several odd looks but I don't care because at least when the frost comes my neck will be incredibly warm. We also went to Covent Gardens where I treated myself to some lush goodies, I bought the snow fairy shower gel last year, it was amazing, so I bought it again.
Tomorrow I go back to school, after this holiday, which hasn't felt like a holiday at all, as I've been busy every day. Although somewhere I have managed to squeeze in 3 Harry Potter films, just this weekend, as this movie draws closer, I am becoming more obsessed. That is that thing with me, I become obsessed really easily, past obsessions include sheep and socks- I am a perfectly normal child. xx

Heart tights and geek glasses

I am truly addicted to these heart tights, they are permanently attached to my legs. Anyway this is what I wore yesterday, not very exciting I admit; when I went shopping with Chloe (go check out her fabulous blog and leave her a comment!! ) and Holly. I didn't buy anything but spent money how does this work? Also we stopped at Costa Coffee, this is what I had but the cakes were to share.
I am starting my work experience tomorrow, which should be fun and I have been featured on Fashion my legs, which is an amazing blog about tights and hosiery; have a look at the post here... X

One day I shall live in Urban Outfitters

I ♥ shopping. So today I went to Manchester with my lovely mum and bought an awful lot of clothes; which in the next few days I will post. This what I wore, apart from the shoes, I was wearing my good old brogues; but was amazed with these wedges, so put them on and never took them off. One wonderful thing about these shoes is they make me taller than most average height people, so for once, I am tall. X

Frock swap

Last night I went to a frock swap, well I helped out at a frock swap; and I really enjoyed it. For those of you that don't know what a frock swap is I will tell you; this is what happened at the one I helped out at, but won't happen with them all. So at 6.30 the first customers arrive with several items of clothing, for each piece of quality clothing they get a ticket and for each fifth piece of clothing they get a premium ticket. We sort out the clothes and for the posh and designer clothes we label them premium and the rest is hanged up on other rails. While the women wait for the rails to open they can have a few drinks, buy jewelery and get their nails done. At 7.30 they open and the crowd of women swarm in, handbags and eager eyes at the ready. Then we wait; the amount of tickets they have is the amount of clothes they can take. At the end of it they go home with a wonderful, new wardrobe. Just in case your wondering how they make money on this, there is an entry fee of £10 but it is worth it; if there is one near you I recommend it. X
I have devised some useful tips on how to make the most of your swapping:
  • Go with at least 5 pieces of clothing to make sure you get that premium ticket.

  • If you drop your clothes off at 6.30 make sure you get back 10 minutes before it opens just to be safe.

  • Usually there aren't changing rooms so wear a vest and legging under your clothes.

  • While your waiting for the rails to open, keep your eyes out for great finds.

  • Remember it's not just clothes that are swapped you can also swap shoes and bags.

  • Make friends with the person hosting the frock swap and hope they will offer you free stuff at the end.

  • Keep your eyes open for vintage, designer pieces that haven't been spotted by the hosts.

  • Don't spend ages deciding on one piece by the time you look at the other stuff, the best will be gone.

I didn't have my camera with me so couldn't take any pictures, unfortunately everything good was gone by the time I had a look, so be quick. This just a picture I took of some of my dresses a few days ago (Note-I didn't get them at the frock swap). X

I never know what to call posts

Don't you just wish you had never ending pockets, I do all the time. Today I went to Manchester and saw lots of people carrying strange things- an ironing board, a pair of skis and lots of capes of tin foil (it was the Manchester Run). I fell in love with many shops, all of which I can't afford- Urban Outfitters, Cow; and had to settle for primark. I bought several random things including a pair of rather glamorous sandals for a friend. I am also very pleased that I have sold my first thing on eBay, just crossing my fingers that it arrives there fine.
I really want to learn how to knit again, I made some hats for innocent smoothies but then forgot how to. Anyway, one of my life long ambitions is going to be to cover my bike in knitted stuff. Apparently this is called yarn bombing and it sounds rather fun.

Lampshade skirts

This is from the Moschino fall 2010 collection and I saw it and thought just how amazing it was. Most of the other clothes in the collection are dark but then you see this skirt, which looks like it has been made out of a lampshade but I still find gorgeous. Yes, I do have very peculiar taste; anyway it also has the big reveal trend included in it without it looking to slutty, which I one day want to attempt, even though I probably look quite stupid. If anyone knows where I can buy a huge, cheap lampshade from, please tell me. X

Lovely, Lacy Lantern

Last night I went out for a meal at Pizza Express to celebrate my fabulous friend, Megan’s birthday. I really enjoyed it, however when I arrived I realized there were several teachers from my school eating in the same restaurant. But fortunately there was a table of cute guys at the other end of the restaurant so we just spent our time gawping at them. Here’s a photo of what I wore and have I mentioned I just love the dress. It’s really random- a purple, lace, lantern dress; it can be worn backwards as well and I also have a picture of that. Because I was experimenting - I would never have the guts to wear it with the shirt as well it’s a little to odd for my liking. I paired it with the shirt as I feared it was too wintery and wanted to try and make it a bit summery.

Flowery skirt- Spring is nearly here

A couple of weeks ago I was a little bored so decided to make a skirt with some random floral fabric in my cub-board. It was actually reallly easy to make I just sewed it onto some elastic, then added a few buttons and voila. Now that it is nearly Spring, it's definatly the perfect time to start wearing it especially with all the flowers popping up every where. It's only one more season till summer and I can not wait. Thought I would share with you one of my cheap shopping secrets, so in the photo you can see me wear a few badges - I got them on a website called free cycle. All I did was got my dad to leave a post saying Wanted: random beads, buttons and badges; and a lady saw it and sent me loads of really old and cool stuff. For free! Yes, by now you will have gathered I like a good bargain.

A breath of fresh air

I needed some fresh air so I went on a little walk to my park, where I sat down on a nice bench and read some vogue. And well I couldn't help but notice the stares I was getting from compete strangers because I was wearing something different. I have been keeping up with my none boring phase and so with a little persuasion from the D&G spring collection I went out in my jeans, denim jacket and denim bag. Everything about it said it wouldn't work, but it kind of did. So I attempted to take pictures with out attracting more looks; I don't have the confidence of other bloggers. Anyway it was extremely windy and so the pictures all look a bit odd but on the positive it gives my hair some volume? X

Its only 4:30 and I've been to the moon and back.

So far today I have been shopping twice, been to drama, eaten lots of cake, taken several pictures, bought my mothers day present, been on a tram for the first time, used a cash point thing for the first time and just genuinely had lots of fun. And well I think thats pretty good going, to do all that before 4:30. I also found out that Amy is a popular name as i got served by someone called that in Selfridges;then, this is quite freaky, my friend, Chloe, got served by someone called Chloe also in Selfridges. Coincidence? I think not!
Anyway, heres some pictures I took in Cafe Nero and on the train; I am very sorry they arn't that good quality and Chloe didn't know I was taking a picture so wasn't ready but I thought it looked nice so posted it anyway. I have been trying to keep to none boring outfits and so today I followed that rule and went out in a lace dress, instead of jeans and a T-shirt. Thought I'd mention that in two weeks time I will be on top of a mountain in france skiing and I really can't wait, I'll miss blogging though. X

My Brain Hurts

I'm having one of those days where I just feel like lieing down and falling asleep, but if I do lie down I know I won't be able to fall asleep cause my brain hurts to much with confusion. So I'm trying to occupy myself by writing a really random post. Last night I was in a taking photos and trying on clothes mood so I tryed on a random playsuit I bought a few years ago, only to find out it finally fits me. Yes I have grown, I'm quite proud of this as I used to be smaller than everyone and now I'm like taller than most of my friends. Anyway heres a picture I got my mum to take of me yesterday, please excuse the 3D glasses. X

Pretty edgy if I say so myself

I was reading a magazine today which said that a trend for this spring and summer is pretty edgy. And well to be honest it just made me feel confused arn't they total opposites of each other. If you put them together how on earth would they compliment each other; it just goes against human nature. I was genuinely intrigued and so I decided to make use of this gorgeous weather and have a go trying to capture this trend on camera. And well I was wrong, they do work well together, it made me think, loads of strange stuff work together; peanut butter and marshmallow fluff, black and white, chillies and chocolate...
So the dress and tights I think are pretty and the waistcoat and heels are a bit edgy, the Alice in Wonderland look wasn't intensional I'm doing that photo shoot next week, however it will look fairly simular as I'm wearing the same dress but at a more interesting location.

Je n'aime pas le thé

Bonjour, just been writing my French speaking assessment and now I keep having the urge to writing in French. And well I really don’t think it’s that healthy. So anyway I’ve just got home from volunteering at a charity shop and I’m trés happy as I have found out I get staff discount. I bought a kind of hideous skirt and am going to make it into a gorgeous dress. I will post pictures of it when it’s done. Also I was wandering around tesco, as you do and found a pair of trousers (not sure what there called) but they only had 3 sizes too big. So I am completely demolishing them then I will sew them back up smaller and take some pictures for you all to see. Au revoir X
